How to use Engines in Raft

As a survival game, Raft is all about finding ways to create things and then use them effectively. That is related in particular to the creation and upgrade of the raft itself, which is a major focus of the Raft game.

While most players will begin with a Steering Rod, the need for something bigger and better quickly becomes apparent. Here is where the Raft Engine comes into play.

With it, anyone will be able to support their raft’s weight, add further Foundations and also attain many sailing benefits. These include the ability to move against the wind and move wherever the player wishes to go. So, having engines in Raft is essential for the game’s progression - here is how anyone can build them.

Engine Blueprint

The first element of a Raft Engine is its Engine Blueprint. It is located on the Vasagatan shipwreck, but players first need to create a Receiver and Antenna. These will be used to capture different radio signals and lead the players to the site of the ship. Once the wreck is found, the players will need to get to it, enter the cockpit and use a Bomb to open the doors. There, they will find the Steering Wheel Blueprint and the crucial Engine Blueprint as well.

Building the Engine in Raft

To build a Raft Engine, players will need 20x Plank, 5x Rope, 5x Metal Ingot, and one Circuit Board. Each of these can be either located or crafted directly, but once all of them are ready, the players will have their Engine. From there, with the Engine on the raft, the game can take a different direction for them.

Using the Engine

With the Engine installed and ready to go, players can sail wherever they want. A raft can carry up to six Engines, while a single Engine can provide support for 100 Foundations. Lastly, the Engines also work great with Steering Wheel - in fact, these combined provide the ultimate functionality in terms of navigation and movement. The two of these will, thanks to the “R” key command, allow the players to change the course of their raft and travel wherever they want to go in the entire map of the Raft game.

Before you get started with all of this, you will want to make sure you have your research table!
