Best ways to get food in Raft

Every survival game demands a player to have a good sense of food and water collection for survival. The same is the case with Raft. The hook can grab many materials like planks, plastic, and leaves, but it won't help you to grab food from the ocean. So, for beginners, here are few best ways to get food in Raft.

Barrels and Growing your Food

Reeling the barrels in whenever you come across one can be helpful, as these barrels usually contain raw potatoes and beets. However, this technique is unreliable as the barrels don't have fruits or food that are directly consumable.

Instead of eating raw potatoes and beets, the more sensible use is to plant them in crop plots. You can find crop plots in the Food and Water section of the crafting menu. The capacity of one crop plot is that it can hold two raw beets or potatoes. The crop plot can aid in dramatically increasing your crop production, and you will have a stack of potatoes and beets in no time. Later, you can grill them and eat them to fill your hunger indicators.

Planting is easy but protecting the plants from wildlife is a problem. Birds will attack the crop plots, trying to steal the growing plants. Stay alert whenever you hear a screeching noise, as it is an indicator that birds will attack the crop. There are two ways to protect your crop. The first way is that you can rush towards the birds when you see them attacking, and the other way is that you can build a scarecrow for your plants.

Raft Crops

Islands

In the beginning, you may feel that it's just the ocean and you on the map. However, there are several islands that you may come across. A paddle will aid in maneuvering your raft towards an island. The Navigation section of the crafting menu holds the option of creating a paddle. Paddle formation requires plastic, rope, and planks. After reaching the island, you will need an anchor to keep your raft in its place.

Leaving the raft without an anchor is risky, as you may not find your raft after you come back from exploring the island. As you get on an island, your main objective should be to look for as many fruits as possible. You can chop down the trees and find mangoes and coconuts on them. You can get pineapples and watermelons from the ground. At the same time, you can kill an animal you come across and use it as food. If you find seeds of different fruits on the ground, you can store them to plant in the crop plot.

You will eventually find the Radio Tower after visiting many Islands.

Fresh Water

You can use the inventory materials for crafting cups and a purification station. You can use that cup to take saltwater out of the ocean and place that cup on the purification station. The purification station will help in boiling the saltwater. You can add planks to the purification station to keep it going.

Fishing

Fishing is the most reliable technique to get food in Raft. Besides filling your food gauge, it also aids in making shark bait. Crafting a fishing rod is essential for fishing.

Once you have a fishing rod built from planks and rope, you can cast the fishing line in the sea and wait till you get a fish on the hook. Later, you can grill the fish and eat it to restore your food gauge.
